Hmmm...
a bit difficult to make out this cover against my black background!
In 1968, this album slapped the summer of love across the face with dark themes and pounding, do it yourself tunes. This album explodes in your face.
The 1 - 2 punch of the lp's B side consisted of "I Heard Her Call My Name" and "Sister Ray"; I wore that side out on my little teenage record player. IHHCMN is an unrelenting amphetamine rush of ear-splitting guitars on the brink of (and often slipping headlong into) feedback.
"Sister Ray" (all 16 minutes of it) could almost be called "mellow" by comparison. Insistent, wandering but never styraying, this tune is a primal dirge of raw power.
