What made me this way...
The first time I heard this album, my jaw dropped to the floor. Kottke's first release, inauspiciously titled "6 and 12 String Guitar", has never been equalled by himself or any other guitarist. Consisting entirely of dazzling, driving finger-picked guitar solos, one is left wondering hopelessly "how'd he do that?"
"Greenhouse" is another good Kottke album, though it is far less consistent and notable primarily for the slippery tune "Beantime", my favorite Leo song ever.
