career. "Trout Mask Replica" stands today as a landmark work.
Produced with a friendly, quirky feeling by Frank Zappa, this album featured one of Captain Beefheart's best bands and some of his best compositions. There was a distinct naivety among these rather bizarre tracks - these guys really "felt" the odd progressions and jagged rhythms that they so deftly performed.
Often imitated, never duplicated.
