What made me this way...
"ENVY" (1984), "GREED" (1988), "LUST" (1991). What an ambitious set of album titles! The Ambitious Lovers consisted of Arto Lindsay on guitars and Peter Scherer on various keyboards. The two musicians miraculously created full-bodied powerhouse pop music. Their music displayed both disregard and respect for pop traditions.
Alternating ungracefully between sweet, traditional Brazilian music, raunchy noise rock, and straight-ahead power pop, these 3 albums feature above all else solid compositions. These guys were in no hurry, as evidenced by the gaps between releases of what was obviously a planned trilogy. Carefully crafted, with just the right touch of spontaneity.
"Lust" is the easiest to find; all three are excellent.
